A month-long campaign that started on May 10 to promote biological diversity is being held in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, to add to the fifteenth meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP-15) held in the city from May 17 to 30.

The campaign has featured various activities, especially on some important time nodes such as International Day for Biological Diversity which fell on May 22 and June 5, World Environment Day.

A popular science tour exhibition and a symphony concert were held for International Day for Biological Diversity to show China's leadership and influence in biodiversity and help Yunnan and Kunming to be better known internationally.

On May 21, the first tour exhibition for biodiversity popular science themed "Love for Life" opened at Tongde Kunming Square.

In the exhibition area, Yunnan's eco-environmental cooperation center provided 30 photos of the province’s rare animals and plants, showing their rich diversity.

Highlights of the event included the creation of biodiversity paintings, interactions of alpacas and guinea pigs with children, an on-site popular science introduction to animal and plant specimens, and a staged musical performance.

The tour exhibition will be held on campus, in addition to other exciting activities.

This event is one of a series of biological diversity promotion activities in Yunnan held under the guidance of the COP15 Yunnan Provincial Preparatory Office.
