The Kunming-Mohan Land Port is seeing expanding connections and increasing importance in Pan-Asian railway network.

It has now preliminarily formed a regional corridor connecting domestic and South/Southeast Asian markets, reaching 15 provinces and regions domestically, and four countries and regions internationally.

Mohan town, once a far-flung town in Southwest China’s Yunnan province bordering Laos, is taking on a new profile as a booming international land port.

In May 2022, Mohan was put under trusteeship of the provincial capital in the hope of shaping the border town into an international port and a highland of investment and international cooperation.

Since being selected for national logistics hub construction in 2022, the Kunming-Mohan Land Port has continuously improved in quality and speed, steadily enhancing operational efficiency and significantly boosting service capacity.

The Kunming-Mohan Land Port hub covers an area of 7.17 square kilometers, consisting of two parts in the city of Anning and town of Mohan. The Anning area is positioned as an international bulk cargo consolidation center serving South and Southeast Asia and the surrounding Indian Ocean region.

The Mohan area covers 3.94 square kilometers and is positioned to serve the industrial parks along the border, acting as an international gateway hub radiating to Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. The core area, Mohan Port, covers 5,917.69 acres and comprises functional zones such as railway freight yards, cross-border logistics centers, import and export processing zones and port operation areas.

The Kunming-Mohan land-port hub has established an intercity and regional distribution network covering most parts of Yunnan province within 4 hours.

Statistics show that in 2023, the hub's business scale continued to expand, with a total cargo throughput of 35.48 million tons and total logistics revenue of 1.94 billion yuan($268 million) for the year.
