Kunming sees rising industrial investments in Q1

In the first quarter, Kunming's counties and districts stepped up efforts to attract investment, start projects, strengthen industries, and promote upgrading. This has set a solid foundation for Kunming to achieve its annual economic development goals.

On Jan 11, Anning city commenced 24 key projects with a total investment of about 11.68 billion yuan ($1.70 billion). Among them, there are 11 industrial projects with a total investment of 11.19 billion yuan, covering industries such as new materials, metallurgy, new energy, trade and logistics, and modern agriculture.

On Jan 29, Guandu district held the first on-site promotion for the new projects for the year. The 16 new projects (including five key industrial projects) had a total investment of 11 billion yuan, involving school construction, resettlement housing, renovation of old residential areas, and urban greening upgrades, among many projects.

On Feb 2, Luquan county held a groundbreaking ceremony for key projects in the first quarter of 2023. It started with 36 projects worth 2.27 billion yuan and a planned investment of 1.11 billion yuan within the year.

In the first quarter, Chenggong district reported 19 centralized projects with a planned total investment of 4.14 billion yuan. Among them were six key industrial projects with a planned total investment of 2.44 billion yuan.

In the first quarter, Wuhua district started 26 key projects, covering areas such as industrial park infrastructure, agriculture, water conservancy, education, and real estate.

The new projects feature a high proportion of industrial and comprehensive undertaking. They include high-tech enterprises such as new materials and new energy that provide momentum for high-quality development, as well as extending industrial chains such as parks and logistics support.

Additionally, there are infrastructure projects that improve urban quality, and improve people's livelihoods, such as farmland water conservancy and school construction.

On March 29, the groundbreaking ceremony for the distributed photovoltaic power generation project in Panlong district was held. The project has a total investment of one billion yuan, with a total capacity of about 220 MW, and an estimated annual power generation of about 290.26 million kWh in the first year. This marks the beginning of a new approach to promoting water source protection areas by introducing environmentally friendly ventures.

The implementation of the above-mentioned projects builds a solid foundation for optimizing Kunming's industrial future, enhancing its image, improving the residents' quality of life, and injecting vitality into the city.
