China Dance Festival opens April 11 in Kunming

The 8th China Dance Festival will be held in Kunming from April 11 to 15, as announced during the press conference on March 28. This is the first time in 18 years that the festival returns to Yunnan.

As one of the national-level festivals founded by the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Chinese Dancers Association, and approved by the State Council, the China Dance Festival is an annual event in the dance industry that includes dance awards, performances, seminars, exhibitions, and community art activities.

Since its establishment in 2002, the festival has been successfully held for seven times, aiming to promote the development of Chinese dance in the new era, showcase achievements in Chinese dance art, facilitate the spread of dance art, promote international dance exchange and cooperation, and serve as an important platform and window to showcase and spread China's excellent dance culture to the world.

The 8th China Dance Festival is hosted by the Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the People's Government of Yunnan Province. During the festival, dance artists from all over the country will gather in Kunming to fully inspire the creativity and vitality of the dance art.

The festival includes the 12th Lotus Awards Ceremony for Chinese Dance, outstanding dance performances, environmental dance performances, dialogue with creators, and art performances for the public.

Works include the classic large-scale national dance drama "Ashima" and the cross-border creation "Dance Art", which combines the skills of martial arts and dance. The festival also features environmental dance works that use museums as performance venues to depict the journey from ancient times to the present through body movement, as well as outstanding dance dramas that have won the Lotus Awards for Chinese Dance. There will also be public welfare activities such as ethnic dance performances and workshops.
