Diesel locomotives produced by CRRC, the world's largest supplier of rail transit equipment, power the international freight trade on the China-Laos Railway.
Earlier last month, the first whole-journey round-trip freight train on the Lancang-Mekong Express Line of the railway departed from Kunming, Yunnan province, passed through Vientiane, Laos, and arrived in Bangkok, Thailand. It carried 286 metric tons of fresh vegetables in 19 cold-chain containers from China and brought back fruit from Thailand, such as longan and durian.

The whole trip, all by rail, took 55 hours — a day faster than previous combinations of rail and road. It saved 20 percent of the previous transportation cost, the company said.
CRRC Zhuzhou Electric produced the main and auxiliary generators, traction motors and radiator fan motors for the diesel locomotives.
