Kunming spends 63 bln on people's livelihoods

In 2022, Kunming implemented a proactive fiscal policy to improve people's livelihoods. In 2022, 73.5 percent, or 63.49 billion yuan($9.36 billion) of the city's general public budget went on improving people's livelihoods, covering epidemic prevention and control, employment, social security, education, health, culture, ecology and environmental protection, and the development of rural areas.

Education secured the marjority of the spending. In 2022, the city's education expenditure of 14.15 billion yuan helped upgrade preschool, compulsory and vocational education.

In 2022, the city devoted 11.79 billion yuan to boost social security and employment. It mainly used this funding to support elderly care and the disabled.
