Thirteen days before its one-year anniversary, Yunnan International Freight Train Co on Nov 20 recorded freight volume valued at more than 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) transported via the China-Laos Railway.

So far, the company has carried 86 percent of the total cross-border cargo transport volume of the railway and has moved some 1.4 million metric tons of cargo via 1,500 international trains.

The company's monthly transport volume has increased from less than 30,000 tons at the beginning of 2021 to more than 200,000 tons.

A total of 25 provincial-level regions exported more than 1,200 categories of goods via the railway to numerous countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, including Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Vietnam.

The company has made multipronged efforts to build a popular China-Laos international cargo transport brand and an intelligent logistics platform.

The railway started operation in December last year and stretches 1,035 kilometers, linking Kunming, Yunnan province, with the Laotian capital, Vientiane.
