Chinese conglomerate Shanghai Pengxin Group Co Ltd attended 6th China-South Asia Exposition and the 26th China Kunming Import and Export Fair, which opened on Nov 19.

Since 2021, Pengxin has operated 15 beef ranches, including 7 under construction, in Yunnan province, with 130,000 cattle.

In 2019, Pengxin invested 460 million yuan($64.28 million) in Myanmar to build farms and TMR feed processing plants. In the following year, the group signed agreements on the introduction of overseas high-quality beef cattle with Yunnan and its cities, including Kunming and Dehong, which promises to help boost the beef cattle industry in the border province to a 100 billion yuan-level.

At the end of 2020, Pengxin Group set up a silage processing base in Myanmar to supply silage feed to domestic pastures. In December 2021, the first batch of 51 tons of Burmese silage corn feed was sent to Pengyun Ranch after customs clearance. It was the first time that China had imported silage from Myanmar, marking the opening of a feed import channel.

With its fitting climate, ecological conditions and geographical advantages, Yunnan boasts a developing industry which promotes the modernization of agriculture and rural vitalization.

By 2025, Yunnan will provide more than 4 million beef cattle, or 500,000 tons of beef, with a comprehensive output value of more than 160 billion yuan.

Yunnan will be shaped into an important hub for the beef cattle breeding industry and processing base in the country.
