The 6th Yunnan International Talent Exchange Conference opened in Kunming on Nov 12. The week-long event is committed to building a talent hub across South Asia and Southeast Asia, and boosting international talent cooperation.
Yunnan is expected to introduce over a hundred high end talents and youth scientists, and establish mechanisms for cooperation and technology sharing among 15 countries and regions.
The meeting gathers Chinese academicians and well-known entrepreneurs at home and abroad to share their insights on Yunnan’s development in domains including low-carbon development, the digital economy and entrepreneurship.
Experts and scholars gave keynote speeches on advanced equipment manufacturing, biomedical, new energy automobiles, and new material industries and offered suggestions for the development of human resources in Kunming.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), Kunming was home to a total of 1.27 million talents, including more than 2,600 high-level talents, such as academicians, national outstanding young people, and Changjiang Scholars, and 116 high-level talent teams. It was also listed among China’s top ten attractive cities for work in the eyes of overseas talents.
Since 2016, when it was established, the event has held five sessions and has become an important platform for Yunnan to promote communication with international talents, and technological and innovative cooperation.
