On Nov 1, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the cancer center of Yunnan Cancer Hospital was held in Kunming, marking a new chapter in cancer prevention and treatment in Yunnan province.
Covering 167,619 square meters, the center is planned to include 16 wards with 693 beds, with medical, scientific research, and teaching facilities. It will include pathology and inspection centers, key laboratories, biological specimen banks, an international cooperation and exchange center, and a talent training center.
This project is aimed to improve medical service and comprehensively enhance the scientific research level.
After the project is completed, it is expected to become a tumor diagnosis and treatment center, a high-level tumor research center, oncology talent training base in South Asia and Southeast Asia.
