Kunming welcomes black-headed gulls

Citizens feed black-headed gulls by the bank of Dianchi Lake in Kunming, southwest China's Yunnan province, Oct 20, 2022. 

To date, more than 4,000 black-headed gulls have arrived at Dianchi Lake in Kunming. It is  the best time to relish the beauty of the birds in the city. Every year black-headed gulls fly to Kunming for the pleasant weather in winter.

The Kunming Municipal Forestry and Grassland Bureau has prepared more than 30 tons of grain this year and set up 62 feeding points to make sure they are well-fed in winter.

Authorities have taken measures to guide citizens to watch the gulls in an orderly fashion. They also regularly disinfect the habitat and monitor the health condition of the wintering gulls.
