On Sept 6, the Malaysia Pavilion was opened at the Dianchi Convention and Exhibition Center in Kunming, capital of Southwest China’s Yunnan province, and promises to bridge cultural and economic exchanges between Yunnan and Malaysia, and deepen bilateral cooperation.

The opening ceremony was co-launched by the Consulate General of Malaysia in Kunming and the Foreign Affairs Office of the Kunming Municipal People's Government online and offline.

The Malaysia Pavilion highlights local features, characteristic industries and products, promotes Malaysian cultural exchanges and interactions with Southwest China, and allows participants to experience the multicultural charm of Malaysia.

In recent years, China-Malaysia bilateral relations have maintained a healthy and stable development, adding impetus to regional prosperity and stability, said An An Phap, vice-mayor of Kunming. The opening of the Malaysia Pavilion reflects the upgrading of the cooperative relationship between Malaysia and Kunming.

On the opening day, the pavilion was full of various Nyonya delicacies, and traditional Malay wooden houses on stilts were built. Many Malaysians in Yunnan came to experience familiar hometown customs.  Faizal Shani said that the museum is not only a place to visit, but also a platform for developing strategic interactions and partnerships. In addition to promoting Malaysian products and services, more activities will also be staged, including activities showcasing the Malay language, food and festivals.
