Vaccination service provided for expats in Kunming

In accordance with the requirements of the central and provincial governments for unified epidemic prevention and control, and in order to meet the demands of foreigners for vaccination, the vaccination services are now available to foreigners who are willing to be vaccinated. Below is some information for the services.

Is there any age limits or other requirements?

Foreigners aged 3 and above who work, study or reside in Kunming and are eligible for vaccination may apply for the first and second doses of domestically-developed inactivated COVID-19 vaccines on an informed consent basis.

Foreigners aged 18 and above who work, study or reside in Kunming and are eligible for vaccination may apply for the booster dose of domestically-developed inactivated COVID-19 vaccines on an informed consent basis.

What kind of vaccines will be given?

Domestically-developed inactivated COVID-19 vaccines are used currently for people in the city. Three doses are required for the entire vaccination process. The first, second and booster doses are available.

How can I make an appointment for vaccination?

1. Foreigners in Kunming can make an appointment for vaccination through the following channels:

International students should file an application via their schools. After the list of students who need vaccination is ready, the schools will make a group appointment with the designated hospital based on the list. Other foreigners should consult and make appointments with the designated hospital themselves.

What is the vaccination schedule for foreigners?

For the first and booster doses:

April 14-15, 2022 (09:00 - 17:00);

For the second and booster doses:

May 9-10, 2022 (09:00 - 17:00).

What documents should be provided?

Foreigners need to provide valid IDs when making an appointment for vaccination. Please present your Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card of the People’s Republic of China or passport and valid stay/residence permit at the vaccination site. Those who are covered by a medical insurance plan should bring a valid medical insurance participation certificate (Social Security Card) and a photocopy of the card. Please make sure that the documents are valid on the date of vaccination.

Do I need to pay for the vaccination?

Foreigners who are covered by China’s social security and medical insurance plan will receive vaccination free of charge by presenting their medical insurance participation certificate (Social Security Card) at the vaccination site. Those who are not should bear the cost of 100 yuan/dose (including vaccine fee and vaccination service fee). Payment must be made in cash, RMB only.

What should I do after the vaccine shots?

After receiving the vaccine shot, you need to stay in the observation area for 30 minutes at the vaccination site and may only leave when there is no sign of discomfort. If you have severely adverse symptoms after vaccination, please seek medical attention and report to the designated hospital immediately.

How do I get the vaccination certificate?

After the vaccination is completed, you may request the vaccination certificate from the staff of the designated hospital.
