Youth in China and South Asia deepen connection

Several events that are part of the 11th China-South Asia International Cultural Forum were recently been hosted by the Chinese People’s Association with Foreign Countries and Yunnan province.

Lin Tiansong, head of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said similar cultural history and common development missions have provided a foundation for cooperation between China and South Asia. He said that he hopes young people from both sides can strive to build a more peaceful, cooperative and united Asia and the world, promote reciprocal cooperation and common development, and build a closer China-South Asia community with a shared future.

As a border province, Yunnan has served as a bridge connecting China and South Asia in deepening economic and cultural ties,said Luo Hongjiang, deputy head of the Standing Committee of Yunnan Provincial People’s Congress. Fruitful results have been achieved between the two sides under the Belt and Road Initiative. Yunnan is willing to push forward more communications and cooperation with neighboring regions.

Moin Haq,Pakistani Ambassador to China,said South Asia and China have been connected through the Silk Road since ancient times, pioneering as a precedent for world economic integration. He said that he hopes young people in South Asia and China can understand and inherit the profound civilization of Asia, strengthen understanding, enhance mutual trust, and play a positive and constructive role in the development of the region.

Yognathan from the Sri Lankan Embassy in China said China has donated vaccines to help Sri Lanka fight COVID-19. He said that he hopes more connections between the two sides can be built.
