A naked-eye 3D video of the Asian elephants wandering in lush Yunnan forests and waterfalls was broadcast on Yunnan’s largest outdoor 8K ultra-high-definition screen in Kunming, capital of the southwest province, to mark Earth Day on Friday.
With realistic visual effects, elephants seem to come out of the screen and "appear" on the building.
It also aims to welcome the second part of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, also known as COP 15, a key United Nations biodiversity conference, to be held in the city this year. Its first part was held in Kunming in October last year.
The richness of Yunnan's biodiversity is believed to be one of the reasons why COP 15 was held in the southwestern province.
Yunnan, which accounts for only 4.1 percent of the country's land area, is the province with the most biodiversity resources in the country.
An 8K ultra-high-definition ecological documentary "Life of All Lives" focuses on recording Yunnan’s diverse flora and fauna. The documentary will be broadcast on CCTV-2 at 10pm from April 25 to 29.
