Kunming’s 2021 economy performance in numbers

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Kunming stood at 722.3 billion yuan(about $114 billion) in 2021.

The city’s general public revenues grew by 5.9 percent year on year to top 68.91 billion yuan.

The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents, respectively, rose 9.4 percent and 10.1 percent from 2020.

Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 338.64 billion yuan, while the consumer price index saw slight growth of 0.2 percent.

Market entities totaled one million with 188,800 new entities.

A development bond with 7.56 billion yuan has been set up to boost 13 key industrial chains.

The added value of emerging industrial enterprises with annual revenues of more than 20 million yuan grew by 12.2 percent.

Kunming ranked 28th on the 2021 Top 100 China Cities list in Comprehensive Competitiveness.

It attracted investment of 164.1 billion from outside of Yunnan province, with  foreign capital in actual use totaling $750 million.

The number of high-tech companies in Kunming soared by 80 percent to top 1,400.

A total of 376,000 new jobs were created in the city last year, with an urban unemployment rate of 3.86 percent.
