Kunming was selected as one of 2021’s most investment-attractive cities at a global investment event. The other nine nominated cities included Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Shenyang, Hangzhou and Nanjing.

According to the list, Kunming leads the country in location, economic bases, human resources, investment environment, international connections and level of livelihood.

With the implementation of RCEP and advancement of the BRI, Kunming’s advantages in transportation, market and open policies became increasingly prominent. In China's all-around opening to South Asia, Southeast Asia, West Asia, Southern Europe and Africa, Kunming has played an important gateway role.

With targeted investment-attracting efforts, its emerging industries including new materials, healthcare and digital economy have seen the operation of 45 projects with individual worth of 100 million yuan($15.74 million).

This year, the city’s investment will mainly focus on boosting 13 industrial chains, including green food, high-end equipment manufacturing and electronic information manufacturing.
