Kunming holds 2nd Kunming South and Southeast Asian Language Services (Translation) Forum

The 2nd Kunming South and Southeast Asian Language Services (Translation) Forum was recently held in Kunming.

The forum focused on boosting Kunming’s intelligent construction and language service industry so as to strengthen its position as an international center  for South and Southeast Asian countries.

Sun Qun, deputy mayor of Kunming, said Kunming is an important central city in southwest China and an important gateway for the country to South Asia and Southeast Asia. The city will further cultivate more international talents that meet the needs of the coordinated development of China, South Asia and Southeast Asia, and promote exchanges in politics, economics, humanities, education, health and other fields.

Diplomats from seven consulates in Kunming, experts and scholars from key universities across the country, and enterprise representatives participated in the forum and exchanged ideas on Kunming's international image and role.

At present, Kunming has trade relations with 203 countries and regions, and 109 Fortune 500 companies and branches have invested in the city. Kunming Changshui International Airport has 396 passenger routes, with 45 flying to South Asia and Southeast Asia, ranking first in the country.

It has established relations with 47 sister cities and friendly exchange cities. It has the most sister cities in South Asia and Southeast Asia of any city in the country.
