China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Co said it will add more trains to meet demand from travelers on the new China-Laos Railway.

As of Wednesday, the number of passenger trips on the Chinese section of the line hit 114,000, it said.

From Kunming, Yunnan province, the line passes 13 stations before entering Laos at Yunnan's Mohan port.

The new line has been warmly welcomed, as it dramatically shortens travel times within Yunnan and brings railway service for the first time to the city of Pu'er and the Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture.

Since opening, the railway has supported about 20,000 daily trips. The passenger load reached 94.6 percent on the first day.
