Laotian city joins Kunming-initiated tourism alliance

The authorities of Luang Prabang, Laos,signed an official government document to formally join the Kunming International Friendship City Tourism Alliance.

The city is now the 13th member of the alliance, which includes seven Yunnan hotspot tourist cities and six cities in Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Nepal.

Established in 2017, the tourism alliance aims to team up efforts to coordinate regional tourism resources and create an open international tourism market.

The alliance has facilitated communication in travel policies, tourism routes, building of reciprocal tourism markets, and improvements in tourism facilities.

According to statistics, by the end of 2019, the average annual number of exchange visits between Kunming and the five countries had reached 700,000.

This year also marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. The China-Laos railway will be operational by the end of this year.
